Benga Mission

Benga Parish in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe was established in January 2013 and has been since attended by personnel from the Missionary Community of Saint Paul the Apostle. It is located about 140 km from the capital, Lilongwe, at the road that goes along Lake Malawi, just between the two district centres Salima and Nkhotakota.

Benga Mission

Benga Parish in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe was established in January 2013 and has been since attended by personnel from the Missionary Community of Saint Paul the Apostle. It is located about 140 km from the capital, Lilongwe, at the road that goes along Lake Malawi, just between the two district centres Salima and Nkhotakota.

It covers a territory of 3,000 sqkm, the south of Salima district and the north of Nkhotakota district. The parish comprises 55 chapels, grouped in five main centres (Benga, Thavite, Nthasewe, Mwansamb and Chipati). The population in the area is of about 120,000 people of which 19,000 are Catholics.
